 The 2013 SportAccord World Mind Games are underway!

The 3rd Edition of the World Mind Games rings the opening bell. The venue looks great, the players have arrived, the guests are getting settled in and SportAccord is ready to host an all new edition of the World Mind Games. 


SportAccord announces a new partnership with the world famous Renault-Nissan alliance. SportAccord President, Marius L. Vizer outlined the importance of the World Mind Games and shared his vision for the future of multi-sports games. The night closes on a cultural excursion for the mind to enjoy with a demonstration of Wushu, Dance & Ballet. 


Yesterday, Ju Wenjun, China's young chess ambassador visited Rado's flagship store in Beijing and sat down with Vogue magazine to discuss her busy lifestyle.

SportAccord World Mind Games 2013 Opening Press Conference

 

 

SportAccord President, Marius L. Vizer discussed the future of the organisation’s multi-sport events. He highlighted the significance of these games and how SportAccord will continue to strive for perfection and added value.

 

«World Mind Games are very important for us. This multi-sport competition is one we love to improve each time it is hosted», he said. «We hope that the Olympic and non-Olympic multi-sport competitions will continue to develop on the global scale and inspire and entertain sports communities, media, international federations and fans».

 

The Executive President of the Local Organising Committee, Mr. Wu Jingmi underlined the social importance of the event.

 

«We really enjoy the face-to-face communication between the Ambassadors of the World Mind Games and our younger generations from schools and universities. The new feature of the 2013 edition will also bring online tournament winners to compete with our offline players. We hope the fans of the mind sports will enjoy great games that are going to happen during the event».

 

More than 150 participants will compete in the SportAccord 2013 World Mind Games for $1.4 million in prize money, stated SportAccord Director General, Vlad Marinescu at the event’s Opening Press Conference.

 

He continued by expressing that «The world’s greatest players will attend the third edition of the World Mind Games, featuring five sports of great influence and popularity - Bridge, Chess, Draughts, Go and Xiangqi».

 


 A beautiful and cultural Opening Ceremony 

 

The Beijing 2013 SportAccord World Mind Games Welcome Reception & Opening Ceremony took place this evening. The great cooperation between the Local Organising Committee, SportAccord and all of the International Sports Federations was celebrated tonight as all united in the Beijing International Convention Center to kick-off the third consecutive edition of the event.

 

During the Ceremony, SportAccord President, Mr. Marius L. Vizer, the Vice Mayor of Beijing, Mr. Yang Xiaochao and Mr. Wang Wei, the Vice Chairman of Beijing Olympic City Development Association expressed their best wishes for the upcoming mind sports competitions, participating athletes and officials. Artistic performances including a Wushu demonstration, ballet and acrobatics filled the second half of the ceremony with a tasteful mix of music and culture. 

 


Ju Wenjun visits Rado for a photo shoot and interview with Vogue Magazine

 

On a cold and windy Tuesday afternoon, young chess ambassador, Ju Wenjun visits RADO's flagship store located in the heart of the shopping district in Beijing. A beautiful store, an exquisite watch and one photo-shoot later, Ms. Ju Wenjun sits down with Vogue to share how she manages a competitive chess career, full-time college studies and a love for fashion.
 

" I think time is quite precious for me, since I am both a chess competitor and a full-time college student. I want to put every minute and second to good use. In my daily life, I focus a lot on chess but want to continue studying. I spend a significant amount of time participating in different competitions and training for the national team." - Ms.Wenjun

 

When asked about the upcoming competition, Ms. Wenjun told us she was feeling the stress as the event approaches but she anticipates that it will be a great opportunity for her to practice and enhance her chess skills.

 

A keen interest for fashion, she loves "European and American styles". A lovely young woman with a great smile and a love for chess. Good luck to her as she starts her competition on the 12th of December.

 


Renault-Nissan Alliance to support Beijing 2013 SportAccord World Mind Games

 

 

The Renault-Nissan Alliance is the latest organisation to announce its support as Official Partner of the Beijing 2013 SportAccord World Mind Games, the top international multi-sports event which features 150 of the world’s best mind sports players from 40 countries and regions annually.

 

In addition to visibility through TV broadcast and live streaming in 300 million homes, the Renault-Nissan Alliance will become the main partner of the Beijing 2013 SportAccord World Mind Games online tournaments. The online tournaments have a cumulative participation of 700,000 players and are set up in partnership with the biggest platforms in China and worldwide. Renault-Nissan will provide a Nissan Tiida compact car and a Renault Koleos compact SUV to the winners of the online tournaments.

 

China is Nissan’s single largest passenger car market worldwide, with 1.25 million vehicles sold last year. Just last week, Nissan’s long-time partner Renault announced that it will soon begin industrial operations in China, the largest car market globally.

2013 World Mind Games Broadcasting to reach 600 million

 

This year the 2013 SportAccord World Mind Games will reach 600 million viewers worldwide through 5 simultaneous HD productions. A four hour world daily feed will branch out to 36 countries across the globe. Amongst those covering the event, Beijing TV and CCTV will include a live broadcast for a cumulative 190 minutes per day.

 

Additionally, QQ.com and sina.com, two of the largest websites in China will be broadcasting the event on their internet platforms. The Beijing Olympic City Development Association will also for the first time be sharing the SportAccord World Mind Games on their website. SportAccord will be providing live streaming on www.worldmindgames.net
